Hi, I’m Koto.

The writer of JapanPicks. Let me tell you a bit about myself, and why I started this.

I’m Japanese, born and raised going back and forth between Japan and abroad. Growing up outside Japan probably gave me this perspective, but Japan is incredibly strict. That’s not always a good thing, but it’s exactly why Japanese products are trusted around the world.

Talking to my friends back in Japan, everyone has such high standards. They only use things that actually work, things that are actually worth it.

JapanPicks started because I wanted people outside Japan to know about that standard too. I dig into what’s actually popular in Japan right now, and share honest reviews from real Japanese people, on what’s genuinely worth it.
